GoWear was started by Kris Ruff, a graphic designer who has been skydiving since 1987. “When I first started jumping, I went to a couple of the big dropzones in Florida and Arizona. When I went looking for skydiving t-shirts to take home, I was disappointed with what I found in their gear stores. Back then, it was mostly 'Blue skies, Black Death' stuff. You know, lots of skulls and crossbones. I wanted something colorful and fun, that celebrated the sport. So in 2000, I designed my first four shirts, quit my 'real job' as an art director and launched GoWear."
GoWear designs are fresh, colorful and sometimes quite humorous. All are made with premium quality garments and excellent screen-printing (never decals). On top of that we pride ourselves on excellent customer service. “Great customer service has been easy,” says Kris. “Skydivers are the nicest customers you could ask for and we try to treat everyone like we might meet them at the dropzone next weekend. I’ve had phone orders that turned into conversations about a first jump or a recent malfunction and emails from people excited about doing their first tandem jump. My favorite story was from a customer who had just purchased a Gravity Police t-shirt. He was on his way to the dropzone when he was pulled over for speeding. But the officer gave him a warning instead of a ticket. Puzzled by why he had gotten off so easy, he suddenly remembered he was wearing his Gravity Police shirt and realized that the badge must have been visible to the officer in the side view mirror. When he got to the dropzone and told his story, everyone at the dropzone wanted a Gravity Police shirt!”
Today GoWear sends t-shirts to skydivers all over the world. And our products are available at a growing number of dropzones and gear stores across the country, and overseas, including ones in California, England, Italy and the Netherlands — as well as at those big dropzones in Florida and Arizona.
